Hello, My Name is Millie

I’m the maker, designer, and dreamer behind Made by Millie’s Designs.

I’m a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and wife. Most importantly, I’m a woman who loves God with all my heart and soul, and I try every day to live my life with faith, love, and kindness.

My love for sewing started long before I ever picked up a sewing machine.

I grew up watching my mother sew clothes for me, my siblings, and eventually my own children. I was fascinated by what she could create with a piece of fabric, but I didn't actually start sewing myself until my children were older and out of the house.

When I married for the second time, I decided it was time to pursue something I had always wanted to do. I bought a sewing machine, watched a ton of YouTube videos, and simply started sewing!

I've been sewing since 2015, and I absolutely love it.

Giving Something Old a New Life

I've always loved the earth and wanted to find a way to do my part. That's when I started buying materials from thrift stores, estate sales, and other places where I could find things that still had plenty of life left in them.

A piece of clothing that someone no longer wants can become something completely new.

That's what I love about upcycling.

I'm not just making something—I’m giving materials a second chance.

How Made by Millie's Designs Began

I retired from my job in 2019. Then COVID hit, and everything changed.

My mom gave me the idea to make face masks, and before I knew it, I was incredibly busy sewing them. It was a challenging time for everyone, but sewing gave me something meaningful to focus on.

After COVID, I started sewing again for the people I love—Christmas gifts, birthday gifts, and sometimes just because.

Eventually, someone from my former job suggested that I try doing craft shows.

At first, I wasn't sure.

After retiring and going through COVID, I had become much more of an introvert. I didn't leave the house much unless I was going somewhere with my husband.

But I stepped outside my comfort zone.

I started doing craft shows, meeting people, sharing the things I made, and eventually created Made by Millie's Designs.

And here I am today—still sewing, still learning, still creating, and still loving every minute of it.

Some pieces are handmade from new materials. Others are created from thrifted or previously loved items. But they all have one thing in common:

They are made with love, creativity, and purpose.
